Reviews

The current version of the Tiburon (Spanish for shark) came as a surprise when it made its debut in 2003. Its aggressive styling was a pleasant change from the first-generation Tiburon, while its handling and available V-6 engine gave it admirable credentials. A restyling job for 2005 refined the Tiburon's styling.

Hyundai prides itself on the ability to create attractive and competent cars loaded with features yet costing thousands less than their Japanese and American counterparts. Case in point: the Hyundai Tiburon. Armed with sporty 2+2 coupe styling, an available V6 engine and a long list of standard equipment, Hyundai hopes the Tiburon will draw sales from such competitors as the Mitsubishi Eclipse, the Ford Mustang V6 and the Acura RSX. Though it may not have the refinement or razor-sharp handling of the RSX, the Eclipse and Mustang are easily within the Tiburon's competitive reach. Now in its tenth year of production, Hyundai is banking on the Tiburon's rising quality surveys, wide-ranging trim levels (four in all) and a 10-year/100,000 mile warranty to lure customers to the showroom.
