A redesigned 2007 Elantra will hit showrooms toward the end of 2006. Meanwhile, the 2006 Elantra lineup gains a new upscale Limited sedan. A new Premium Package consisting of a power sunroof, anti-lock brakes, and traction control, is optional on all models.
The Elantra is Hyundai's value-oriented entry in the popular compact car segment. All Elantras come with a long list of standard equipment including air conditioning, cruise control, power windows/locks, body-colored door handles and side mirrors (which are heated and have power adjustment), remote keyless entry with panic alarm, height-adjustable driver seat, and a 6-speaker, 100-watt stereo with CD player.
The Hyundai Elantra competes with such favorites as the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. Hyundai knows it can't yet match the well-earned resale value of its Japanese rivals, but it offers a superior bang-for-the-buck factor and backs the Elantra with the best warranty of any compact sedan. Now in its fourth year of production, the Elantra finds itself aging somewhat, and lacks the slicker design appeals of the new Honda Civic and Mazda3. Still, the affordable asking price, long list of standard features and impressive safety equipment allow the Elantra to go head-to-head with the Ford Focus, Mitsubishi Lancer, Volkswagen Golf and Chevrolet Cobalt.
