2010 Honda Fit Hatchback

Honda introduced the Fit in 2001 as a sub-compact, entry-level car, taking over the Civic’s original role and allowing that model to become a larger and more fully featured vehicle. Honda points to the Fit’s value, versatility, flexible options, and stylish exterior design. The design and placement of the windows, Honda says, provide passengers with expansive views of the outside.

The base level Fit is a five-passenger hatchback sedan with second-row bench seating that can be folded down or up to suit various storage needs. The front passenger seat can also be folded. The base Fit’s standard features include 15-inch wheels, air conditioning, power locks and windows, and a basic sound system with a CD/MP3 player. The Sport trim has 16-inch wheels, rear spoiler, cruise control, fog lights, keyless entry, a six-speaker sound system, and optional navigation system. With the rear seats stowed to create maximum cargo space, the storage capacity is 57.3 cu. ft.

The 2010 Honda Fit has a 117-hp, 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, front-wheel drive, and a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. On the Sport trim, the automatic transmission includes steering-wheel-mounted manual shift control. According to EPA estimates, the Fit delivers 27 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.

Safety features include antilock disc brakes, front side airbags, and side curtain airbags. Stability control is optional on the Sport model. The 2010 Fit received five stars for frontal and side impact protection and four stars for rear passenger protection in NHTSA crash tests. It received “Good” ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for frontal offset and side impact tests.

The 2010 Honda Fit started with an MSRP of $14,900.
