2010 GMC Terrain SUV

All new for 2010, the GMC Terrain is a crossover SUV that is closely related to the Chevrolet Equinox. GMC says the Terrain was designed for extraordinary comfort and safety combined with fuel efficiency, and has several sporty features, including a four-wheel independent suspension.

Four trim levels are available, with each level adding features and refinements. The base SLE-1 trim has 17-inch wheels, full power accessories, cruise control, and air conditioning. A back-up camera is standard. At the highest trim level, SLT-2, standard equipment includes a sunroof, power-driven liftgate, upgraded sound system, and leather upholstery. Options at various levels include a touch-screen navigation system, remote ignition, and 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels. All-wheel drive is available on all trim levels. Cargo space starts at 31.6 cu. ft., and maxes out at 63.9 cu. ft. with the rear seats folded flat.

The 2010 GMC Terrain’s standard powerplant is a 182-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. At all trim levels above the base, a 264-hp, 3.0-liter V6 engine is available. On all Terrains, a six-speed automatic transmission is standard. According to the EPA, fuel economy is estimated at 22 mpg in the city, 32 mpg on the highway, and 26 mpg combined for the basic model, with progressively lower numbers as power and features are added.

Standard safety features include antilock disc brakes, stability control, front seat side airbags, and side curtain airbags. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the 2010 Terrain received “Good” overall ratings in all impact tests. The NHTSA gave the Terrain five stars in driver front and passenger front impact tests.

The 2010 GMC Terrain’s starting MSRP was $24,250.
