This is GMC’s basic heavy-duty pickup truck. Mechanically, it’s a close cousin to the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, with a few luxury touches on the interior, and a different exterior. New for 2010 is a more powerful V8 engine.
The GMC Sierra 2500HD comes in regular, extended, or crew cab configurations. The regular cab is coupled with an extended eight-foot bed, while the other two cab sizes have either the extended bed or the 56-inch regular bed. The base Work Truck trim has a radio, air conditioning, trip computer, OnStar, and vinyl upholstery. The SLE adds keyless entry, a CD player, full power accessories, cloth upholstery, and a few other amenities.
The SLT includes a heavy-duty trailer package with integrated trailer brake controller, plus a locking rear differential, remote ignition, power front bucket seats, an upgraded interior design and much more. Options on the upper trim levels include a sunroof, navigation system, rear-view camera and rear parking assist, EZ-Lift tailgate, a rear-seat entertainment system, and an off-road package.
The GMC Sierra 2500HD is available in rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. For 2010, the truck features a 360-hp, 6.0-liter V8 engine that makes 380 lb.-ft. of torque, coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. A 312-hp V8 engine is also available. The optional turbodiesel Duramax V8 engine is a 365-hp, 6.6-liter that makes 660 lb.-ft. of torque and can tow up to 6.5 tons when properly equipped.
Safety features include driver and passenger front air bags, tire pressure monitoring system and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes.
Starting MSRP ranges from $27,465 to $43,905.
