The Avalanche takes the full-size Crew Cab pickup one step further by adding a folding bulkhead between the cargo bed and the passenger compartment transforming the vehicle from short-bed to long-bed truck. This versatile feature makes for the perfect mix between full-size SUV and pickup. Additional storage bins along the side of the truck bed and a heaping dose of tough plastic in the bed ensure that the interior remains for passengers only. Oddly, the competition from Ford, Dodge, Toyota and Nissan have not followed suit, although Subaru's Baja is a dead ringer for the Avalanche at one-half the size. The Baja even emulates the unsightly plastic siding thankfully now optional on the Avalanche. Unfortunately, the Baja can't tow a 12,000-pound trailer behind it. So there's no competition.
