Introduced in 2002 as a sports sedan, the Cadillac CTS is now in its second generation. The 2010 CTS adds a wagon body style and a new base engine that’s slightly more powerful than the previous model. According to the automaker, the 2010 CTS combines high performance with a smooth ride.

The sedan version of the 2010 CTS is offered in five trim levels. The 3.0 base model includes standard equipment such as dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic headlights, eight-way power driver seat, and an eight-speaker sound system. The 3.0 Luxury level adds leather upholstery, upgraded seats, and Bluetooth connectivity as standard equipment. The Luxury level also includes the Eco Lux Collection, which the automaker says will increase gas mileage to 30 mpg highway. The 3.0 Performance trim level has a larger V6 engine, an upgraded sound system, 18-inch wheels, performance brakes, sport suspension, and other enhancements. The 3.6 Premium level has a sunroof, 19-inch wheels, upgraded suspension, and enhanced steering.

The new 2010 CTS Wagon has the same trim levels, and adds a hatchback for versatility. It offers 25 cu. ft. of cargo space with the rear seats raised, and 53.4 cu. ft. when they’re lowered.

The CTS’s new V6 is a 3.0 liter 270-hp engine that delivers 18 mpg in the city, 27 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined, according to EPA estimates. The 3.6-liter V6 generates 304 hp. Standard on all wagons and 3.6 sedans is a six-speed automatic transmission, but a six-speed manual is available as a credit option. The manual transmission is standard on 3.0 sedans, with the automatic available as an option. Rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive is available.

Standard safety on the CTS include antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, and the a proprietary emergency communications system.

Base MSRP for the 2010 CTS is from $35,165 to $60,720.
