2018 Toyota Prius Prime ratings and reviews

Virtually nothing has changed from the previous model year on the 2018 Toyota Prius Prime. First introduced in 2017, the Prius Prime is Toyota's plug-in hybrid offering. It has a range of up to 25 miles powered by just electricity. After that, the gasoline-powered engine kicks in, providing a total range of more than 600 miles. When the gas and electric motors are used together, the Prius Prime gets 53 mpg/highway and 55 mpg/city. In electric-only mode, it gets 133 MPGe. The Prius Prime has several driving modes, including Recharge, which helps to recharge the battery from the gasoline engine. Under the hood is a 4-cylinder hybrid engine with a 1.8-liter engine and two electric motors (53- and 23-kilowatt). Unlike other members of the Prius family, the Prius Prime only has space for four, not five passengers.
