2009 Volkswagen Ratings, Reviews and Awards

Volkswagen saw the birth of brand-new models (the CC and Tiguan) and the final year of its uber-popular Rabbit, which would later reiterate as the Golf. The Passat, the Volkswagen's midsize offering, is available this year in wagon style and sedan style. With a combined 24 mpg, the Passat saw the dropping of its all-wheel drive and V-6 options and the addition of fog lights, heated seats, and automatic headlights as standard. The CC is new this year and was named “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety thanks to multiple standard airbags, safety belt load limiters, emergency locking retractors, and seatbelt pretensioners. The four-door is styled like a coupe, based on the Passat, and comes with a V-6 or turbo four-cylinder. The Tiguan also made a good showing in 2009 as a new compact crossover with a 200 hp, 2.0 L engine.
