2009 GMC Ratings, Reviews and Awards

The Sierra dominated GMCs 2009 lineup with its durable design and exceptional value. While GMC warranties were downgraded in 2009 to exclude pressurized fuel systems and other aspects of the engine, their powerful trucks and SUVs continued to offer both quality and dependability. The brand added new gas-electric drivetrains, truck underpinnings to SUV models, and various hybrid models that increased fuel economy without limiting towing capacity. Noise-reducing elements were added to their Sierra 3500HD and 2500HD heavy-duty pickup trucks, while the 1500 models continued to boast dominance in power over Toyota thanks to the V8 engines that made them the most powerful in their class. Sierra also retained the highest tow rating among light-duty pickup trucks with a maximum of 10,500 pounds. While remaining competitively priced, GMC chose to upgrade interior features to add a heightened level of comfort in their prized Sierra models. Electronic stability control, locking rear axles, and optional entry-level luxury features all made the Sierra their top seller in 2009.
