2009 Chevrolet Ratings, Reviews and Awards

The most notable changes to American made Chevrolet's 2009 lineup are additions to the SS performance line. Both the Cobalt SS and the new HHR SS models not featured turbocharged 260 horsepower engines, while the Corvette ZR1 returned for the first time in fourteen years with a new supercharged V8 engine capable of producing 638 horsepower as well as 605-foot-pounds of torque. Six-speed paddle shifters and optional dual-mode exhausts were added to the convertibles, while each came standard with a 6-speed manual gearbox or paddle-shifter automatic. Despite the long-anticipated return of the ZR1, Chevrolet's Equinox was the award winner of the year. This stylish mid-size SUV is powered by a V6 engine and 5-speed automatic transmission, but the added features and 24mpg highway fuel economy make the Equinox shine. Full power accessories, automatic headlights, driver information center, and satellite radio all come standard on these SUV models.
